The Cosmos  (Cosmopolitan Singers)

 

Rich, colorful, sassy and fun describe the dynamic sounds of this thirteen voice male vocal ensemble called The Cosmos. Formed in January of 2004, this group has amazed audiences all over San Diego with an unusual assortment of hit tunes sung like you’ve never heard them before. Their repertoire is full of familiar songs pleasing to the palette of every listener, songs you won’t hear on most programs. Tunes from the 30’s and 40’s will make you tap your toe and want to sing along, hits like “Goody Goody”, “Straighten Up and Fly Right”, “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree” and “I’m Beginning to See the Light”. Saucy rhythmic numbers like “Mambo Italiano” and “Fly Me to the Moon” will get your blood pumping. Familiar favorites including “Workin’ On a Groovy Thing”, “In My Room” and “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother” will really bring back the memories. Dance tunes “Workin’ My Way Back To You” and “Heaven Knows” will make you jump right out of your seat.

 

An unusual pool of talented musicians, these singers are dedicated volunteers, committing to weekly rehearsals and an extra half-day rehearsal each month. All are full time career professionals and give of their time, talent and love to their passion of creating music of the highest caliber. Their voices were selected by audition with blendable voices and music reading skills an absolute requirement. Under the direction of Artistic Director Robert Wuertz, the group’s music and artistry will touch you like no other group you’ve heard before.
